Every spring we are asked the same question in the USA: Chaunsa, Sindhri, or Anwar Ratol? They are all Pakistani, all fibreless when properly grown, and all worth ordering. They are not interchangeable. This is how we describe them to households and to distributors who have to put a name on a box.
At a glance
- Sindhri — earliest (May–June), largest fruit, honey-sweet, elongated. Best “first crate of the season.”
- Anwar Ratol — small, intense, buttery, May–August. Best “I already love mangoes” crate.
- Chaunsa — June to mid-August, the famous one, golden and aromatic. Best all-purpose family crate.
Flavor and texture
Sindhri drinks like juice with structure — lots of liquid, clean sweetness, very little musk. Chaunsa is richer and more perfumed; it is the mango that fills a kitchen. Anwar Ratol is concentrated: less volume, more character, a shorter list of people who have had a great one and a long list of people who want another.
None of the three should be stringy. Fibre is a handling or variety-mix problem, not a personality trait of Pakistani export mangoes.
Size and box counts
Sindhri: often 4–7 fruits in a 2kg box. Chaunsa: about 5–7. Anwar Ratol: 8–13. If you are serving a crowd, Chaunsa and Sindhri portion more like “a mango each.” Ratol portions like a tasting fruit — still disappearing, just in more pieces.
Season and availability in the USA
Order Sindhri first because it will be gone. Order Chaunsa when it opens and do not assume August still has it. Order Anwar Ratol whenever we list it; lots are smaller. The calendar is in the season guide.
What we tell first-time buyers
If this is your first Pakistani mango shipment to the United States, take Chaunsa if it is in season, Sindhri if it is May or early June, and add Anwar Ratol only if you already know you want the small fruit. If you are buying as a distributor, stock Chaunsa as the hero SKU, Sindhri as the opener, and Ratol as the premium add-on. Wholesale details are here.
